A Tradition of Service

From the rebuilding of San Francisco after the earthquake and fires of 1906, to the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge, and the ever-evolving skyline, SFECA contractors have been the energy behind San Francisco's most important electrical projects. Working with the skilled elctricians of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 6, SFECA's electrical contractors continually raise the standards of quality craftsmanship, safety, productivity, innovation, and value for the customer.

1890
San Francisco becomes the first city in the U.S. to have electrical arc street lighting. Members of what would become the San Francisco Electrical Contractors Association (SFECA) take part in the great 'light-up'.

1890
San Franciso's electrical contractors begin discussions on forming a professional trade association.

1906
The infamous San Francisco earthquake strikes. San Francisco's electrical contractors join forces to help bring the city back to power and back to life.

1909
The Electrical Trade Association of the Pacific Coast, which will eventually become the SFECA, is formally established.

1915
The World's Fair is held in San Franciso with the beautiful Palace of Fine Arts as centerpiece. Electrical work is performed by SFECA members.

1919
San Francisco continues rebuilding as the nation fights WWI. The Association's first recorded president, Clyde Chamblin, presides.
